Where I stayed
We then went to Ohinemutu Village and Government Gardens. We decided to go back to our motel and chill out and have pour a bubble bath and drink Baileys. Dinner was a vegetable curry cooked in our room by Chef Yort.
25TH FEBRUARY 2011 - After breakfast we headed for our tour at 10am at the Whakarewarewa Thermal Village. (NZ$59 each). Our guide took us through the village explaining its history and showing us lots of thermal pools. Here they use some of the thermal pools for cooking hangi meals which is usually meats and vegetables.
After our tour we saw a Maori show with village residents doing traditional singing and dancing. Unfortunately the show was only about 1/2 hr so it went pretty quick. Had photos with a cool Maori dude and Troy with a Maori lady. After the show we headed down to Ned’s cafe which is still in the village and had a hangi lunch. Lunch was chicken, corn beef, stuffing, corn, cabbage and kumara. For dessert we had pudding with icecream and fruit salad. It was nice but I thought it was going to be a banquet but I was wrong. After Iunch I had to buy a haka t-shirt. We left and drove the rest of the day to Waitomo caves.
