Where I stayed
on the ship to Split
4 AUGUST 2010 - Up early and on the bus at 8am. We leave Venice and drive to Ancona through some pretty countryside with some fields of sunflowers, very pretty. We arrive in Ancona about 1pm. The town looks better from a distance and its not a place to spend a lot of time. You only come here to get the ferry to Croatia or Greece. We get dropped off at the train station. I ask a local where can I use the internet and he tells me across the road. Well that was easy, we find an internet cafe and finally print out of ferry ticket and Split accommodation. We are now set. We get on bus no 12 from the train station to the ferry ticket office. We check into the Jadrolinja company and get our boarding passes. Yeah that was easy. We hop on the free shuttle bus to the wharf where we wait for several hours as we are way too early as we cannot board till 7pm. We got here about 3pm. So we spent the next few hours sitting around updating the blog and reading books. We went across the road and grabbed a pizza and then made our way through customs for passports to be checked. I couldn’t believe their was no x-ray machines. We got through easy, Troy got his needed stamp in his passport to say he has officially left the Schengen. We got onto our boat - Jadrolinijia room 518, a twin bed cabin with ensuite so its pretty cool. Its quite comfortable. We walked around and checked out the boat and had a snack in the restaurant. We sailed at 9.30pm (1/2 hr late).
