From there we did drive back into Pigeon Forge to get some dinner. Right..... that did not happen. They had a car show "Shades of the Past" that was going on from Friday til Sunday. We had been watching all the participants arrive from the time we got there. Amazing turn out, out did back to the 50's or any other car show I have heard of. I am going to watch the local papers and see if I can find out how many people came to town for this event. Cliff did want to see some of the Rods so we drove through town to look, since there was virtually no place to park in Pigeon Forge that is about 4 miles in length
. Well, after about an hour of this we wanted out since we were averaging about 2.5 miles per hour and still hadn't found a place to eat yet (that wasn't packed or blocked entrances). I tried at one point to take a pic of the mass amount of people, but you just couldn't capture that in a pic. Cliff finally got us turned around so we could head back to our turnoff, that was taking about another hour to get south, finally got to our turn and drove like crazy out of town. At that point we both admitted we were done and ready to head home!!! Problem though, we didn't have any food yet! Thankfully, a new pizza place had posted a bunch of signs along the road with their phone number, so I was able to call in a delivery order. And bonus that is was amazing pizza, super good!!!
After visiting the Aquarium the other day, we did do all the typical tourist stuff and spent the afternoon walking around and found that 'shine distillery. From there we drove out of town a different direction that allowed us to take a couple pics of the town from above to share with ya'll.
