After signing off on Monday morning I paced up and down the arrivals hall in Bangkok international airport for what seemed three days before the doors finally opened and my mother emerged. The hug I got from her was much better than the one the guru gave me a few weeks back and as far as I know Mamma hasn't hugged 30 million people!

It was so good to see her again, and so good to see her here. I'd sorted out a rather plush hotel for us for the first couple of days in Phuket. I figured my mother would be tired from the flights and honestly - when do we daughters really get a chance to spoil our mothers? They usually spoil us don't they? Obviously I was taking part in the enjoyment of the luxury too, but that was actually and truthfully besides the point.

I must admit I did have mixed emotions going to Phuket. I mean how morally correct is it of us to go and enjoy pampering and luxury when so many people lost their lives, their loved ones and their livelihood only two months ago? Flip side of the coin, I read the other day that Phuket is currently at 40% of normal tourist capacity and desperately need the tourist trade and the money it brings. As with Kerala hotel rates are slashed in desperate bit to get people back.

We went and we did have a wonderful time. I want to recreate the hotel swimming pool in my future backyard. Does anyone have Brad Pitt's number? I reckon I need a Hollywood actor's salary to be able to build it (and afford a backyard the size of the pool..)

More lucious pictures to follow..
