We completed our hike and arrived at Olduvai Tented Camp at 5pm. Had a fine evening and spent the 27th touring Olduvai Gorge area. Olduvai Gorge is a 200 foot deep dry wash in pure desert climate. We visited the museum located on the rim, toured in the gorge itself and saw several sites presently under excavation. After lunch in the bottom of the gorge we drove to Shifting Sands. It is a single very large black sand dune which is moving with the wind a few meters each year. Then returned to the Olduvai Tented Camp for the evening.
