We left our camp at 7:30 am and spent the day hiking over a mountain and down into the Serengetti. Michelle and I were accompanied by a Masai guide, Matais and Hamza, a park ranger. The area is regularly used by the Masai so we saw people the entire walk and hiked thru or near a few Masai villages. The villages we walked thru are 5 miles from the road and only see the tourists who make this trek. They have animals, cows and goats, grow maize and sell a few pieces of jewelry to tourists. The village was constructed in a traditional manner with cow dung/mud huts for each wife with the fence around the outside to protect the animals that are brough in at night.
