so we woke to get on the road again but first we need to make a breakfast stop to Kerstin before she went to work...we brought pastrys...now for 3 of us you would think maybe 5 would do but no we're in America and deals are so good  and im just trying to take in the culture...we had to bring a dozen so there was enough choice for everyone...ive never seen anything like it. after our breakfast and introductions to the lovely Bell and Stew we went on a little stroll around the sleepy old miners town of Jacksonville before making our merry way with directions to Crater lake and  hoping that the roads were going to be ok as there was still snow falling only days before.

we made our way, with the capable driver behind the wheel up winding roads and into the national park. at this stage we had been driving along roads with snow as high as five foot if not more at either side of us but the are  kept well. we got up to Discovery point which was as far as the road was open at this time of year. it takes them something like 4months to get the whole place ploughed and safe for driving after the winter months. we had gotten lucky with the weather, it had lonely stopped snowing a matter of days before we arrived.but i cant describe the view from here...its said that the first word uttered here normally is WOW....and yes thats what i said..the pictures dont do it justice but all i can say its heavenly! After a while of gazing month opened at the views and bumping into some crazed politically aggressive Americans we realised that camping there for the night wasnt really an option so we started on our way to Bend.
