Before I left Mitchell, I was listening to the traffic/weather report on the radio. A major storm was moving in, so I got rolling, to beat it. You could see it in the distance, a huge semi-circle of black cloud. Anyway, I figured I;d drive faster than a cloud. I kept looking in my mirror and it was getting closer, so as I needed petrol anyway, I pulled into a garage to fill up and put the roof up. There were a few spatters of rain as I went into pay and buy some breakfast. "You're not going out there are you?" I was asked as I approached the door. "Why not?" "Because it's raining". Hmm, I'm British, I can do rain, I'm an expert in rain, I thought. Got to the door and looked through the glass - It was like someone had a firehose pointed horizontally at the pertrol station. It was then I realised I had left my window open. It passed in maybe five minutes, but which time I had two or three inches of water inside the car. The electrics were not happy, the wipers kept going on b themselves, the lights flashed and the radio didn't work. I baled the water out with an old coffee cup, put the roof down (the sun was out now) and everythign was dry within half an hour - except my backside. So I stopped at a service area and sat on a hot kerbstone (It was around 95F now) until I dried out.
