Gordon Breon and MD11
Entry 1 of 1 | show all | print this entry |
Spent a week with Gordon Breon at his hunting lodge in rural Pennysylvania. It's Amish coutry and the roads have more horse-drawn buggies than cars. Early one morning, we were up a tree stand, waiting for deer. There was an inch or two of snow on the ground and it was so quiet you could hear a leaf hit the ground when it fell. Speaking in hushed tones about MD-11 Flight Management Systems (that in itself was quite surreal, being ten feet up a tree with a guy holding a loaded bow), when along comes a black bear. About 150lb weight. She looked up at me long enough for me to take a picture of her and wondered off again. It was the talk of the bar that night. Some folks had lived there all their lives and not seen a bear.
