Question: Do you have trouble making your own decisions? Why do you think that is?
Answer: Unless I have really strong opinions on something, I have a hard time making my own decisions. There are a few reasons why some of them because I don't trust myself a lot and when I hear other people's opinion on things I start doubting my own. Trying to trust my own decisions and seeing what ends up happening when I do could help me build more confidence in my opinions. Even the more simple decisions like what I should have for lunch are hard for me to decide. Mostly the reason for this is because I just think other peoples ideas are better than mine.

What do you think might help you develop the confidence to start trusting your own decisions? Are there any decisions that are easy to make - like what you want for lunch or if you should go to the bathroom before you go out or when you get there? If so, what makes them easier? Is there anyway to transfer that to the harder decisions?

why do you not trust yourself and think other people opinions are better than yours? do you think other people think that way about your opinion?

jademona on

Why do you doubt yourself? What makes you think that other peoples opinions or thoughts are better than yours? Is it because you think they would know better than you? Do you think that you could change your way of thinking? Are you okay with this or would you change it if you could?

Is there a specific reason that hearing other people's opinion makes you doubt your own, or does it just make you feel like they have a good point and you like their idea better? Does it bother you, or are you okay with it?

Trying to trust my own decisions and just seeing what ends up happening could help me build more confidence in my decisions. The simple decisions like what I should have for lunch are definitely easier, but even still when I hear what Iona and Jade are having, I copy them because I assume their ideas will be better.

What are some examples of when you've had trouble?

mersaxon on

Their are a lot of things I have trouble making my own decisions with. For example, when I write essays that require my opinion, when I hear other peoples thoughts that's when I start doubting my own, and thinking theirs are better. Another example, is when I have an opinion on something having to do with politics, when I hear my parents opinion, I just assume that because they are my parents and because they are older they know better.

why do you think that other peoples decisions are better? Do you ever feel like your decisions will be better than others? What do you think might help you build up your own decisions?

mersaxon on

There is no specific reason I think other peoples decisions are better, it's just that I doubt my own. Every once i a while I assume my decisions are better, mostly in a situation with Jade, but I think to build confidence in my own decisions I would have to just trust myself and see what ends up happening when I do.

I have the same problem. It is very hard for me to state my opinion. When I say it, then I will feel someone will say something better and my opinion will change; that makes me feel like it might just be better to not say it in the first place. Although, we should both try to state our opinions more often.
