Wow! 3a.m. we woke to a wild thunderstorm. One thunder clap scared the lights out of me. Needless to say we  didn't sleep well, at least Mark and I didn't. Between the rain on the roof, the wind blowing branches on the windows, the thunder and lightening and the mosquitos- I couldn't sleep. About 7a.m. the trains began running again and they would blow their horn at the crossing. Some engineers were rather creative with their horns. We finally got up at, had some breakfast and headed to Wamego Kansas. What is in Wamego? the OZ Museum. Yep that's why we went. The town isn't much- small, with maybe 2 stop lights. The museum was ok. You enter into the gift shop first, then go through a screen door. Inside you find several display cases with different themes to them. One has all things about the munchkins, another has things about Dorothy, or the Good witch, or scarecrow. In some cases they have memorabelia of all kinds- Oz games toys magzines etc. They had a room where the movie was playing. It was ok- Andrew wasn't interested, even though he likes the movie. We stayed there a little bit, then went to see the Schonhoff Dutch mill. This is a windmill that was built in 1879 and is still used to grind wheat into flour. From there we headed out of town- on the way now to Colorado. Sometimes we have miscommunication on our directions so we can get going the wrong way. I suppose we need to work on that one. Anyway we got going the correct way and hopefullly we will get to Colorado tonight. With our late start and getting turned around we have a longer drive than we had planned. I noticed East Kansas has more green rolling hills and oak trees, and West Kansas is pretty flat and boring. The weather has been hot and muggy for the most part of the day, but now toward west Kansas it's getting cooler and not so humid. Maybe we will all sleep better tonight.
