Nov 28
AHHHHH, fucking rain. this sucks.  Ok, I make an executive decision to leave for Rio tomorrow.  I would go today but the logistics would be too tough to work out.  This is somewhat ironic as I left Rio early because of rain and now Iīll be going to Rio early to avoid the rain.  There were a couple of other spots I wanted to hit up around her.  Caraiva being one of them.  Caraiva is a small beach town with no electricity.  They have generators but at midnight they turn them off and the only lights in the entire town come from candles.  I guess you can see 1000īs of stars.  But with rain and clouds it wonīt matter and the forecast calls for rain for the next week in this part of Brazil.  Rio looks like it is supposed to be nice.

I donīt do much today.  I study up on Buzios and Rio and find a few places on the internet where I may want to stay.  I order a pizza for dinner, my first pizza in well over a month.  The damn thing is ready in no more than 5 minutes which worries me.  I mean even a Jackīs pizza takes 12 minutes.  It is surprisingly good, and not just because I havenīt had pizza in so long.  I still havenīt had an American soft drink since I have been here.  Coke is super popular in Brazil.  I donīt really plan on having one either, not when there is fresh juice everywhere for cheap.  If I do drink a soft drink I drink Guarana Kuat, itīs awesome.  I love Guarana.  I swear if someone opened up a Brazilina Lanchonette in downtown Chicago you would make a killing.  Offer, Acai (the brazilian kind not the American kind), Guarana Kuat, Guaraviton, Brazilian salgados (coxinhas, empadas, pastels etc) and 30 different kinds of juices.  I may try to do this when I get home.  How, I have no idea, but itīs definitely a money making idea.  These juice, lanchonette stores are one of the best things in Brazil.  I have a boring night, as I have to get up and get my ass to Rio - 20 hour bus ride.

Random thought:  who of our friends would make the worst husband - I would have said Barker but now I think I will go with Schmitty.  The worst famous person husband - Wilt Chamberlain.  The worst historical figure husband - William Shakespeare - can you imagine all the drama in that household (ok, worst joke on the blog).

19 hour bus ride to Rio, nothing significant happens, or if it did, I forgot about it and I didnīt write it down.  I do know I didnīt almost crap myself.

BTW:  I used to hate coconut, hated it, in Mounds bars and stuff, nasty.  I love coconut now.  I buy a pack of cookies which are made from coconut for the bus and they are phenomenal.  Weird.  I think I already talked about the goodness of coconut water.
BTW2:  One of my favorite lyrics is the chorus to a song called Cry Freedom by Dave Matthews Band, it goes "The future is no place.........to place your better days".  Hah, I made Moran listen to this song on the night I met her like 7 years ago, and she hated it.  The song is so so, but that lyric is awesome.  Another lyric which I like which I discoverd on this trip is in a song called I am Mine by Pearl Jam, it goes "I know I was born and I know I will die, the in-between is mine".  Perfect mantra to live ones life.  Both of these lyrics actually.

Lanchonete
I would seriously travel to Chicago every day for lunch if they had a lanchonete brasileiro! What do you think of Guaraviton? Do you ever get granola on your acai? If you are still in Rio, find out where the tram is up to Santa Teresa (It's right next to the Petrobras building in Centro...the building looks like it has cubes of the building missing). It's a cool town on top of a mountain in Rio. Just make sure you do it during the day. There is also a cool club at the 'Joquei Clube' near lagoa called 'Patio Lounge' Definately worth a visit, especially when they have a 'bateria' (bunch of people playing drums). Valeu!
