Bottle Beach
We were excited to get away from the hoopla and yahooness that is Had Rin. We found a beautiful beach with only 5 different hotels. Apparently, this place hasn't changed in 10 years. There are still the same Bungalow operations and no room for development. There are no stores, you can only eat at one of the hotel restaurants. They are a little overpriced, but it is hard to complain as they are all right on the beach with panoramic views of a perfect little beach with emerald and green water. We found a great bungalow for about 8 dollars a night. We were shocked at how nice it was; comfortable bed, nice materials, lots of windows and a spotless bathroom that even came with soaps and towels. I wouldn't expect that for the absurd price that we were paying.
We spent the next four or five days trying to match the pace of the locals. You wake up whenever, go to the beach whenever, eat breakfast whenever, lunch whenever, more beach, enjoy a beer with dinner and then go to bed. Next day, repeat. It becomes quite a relaxing routine. You have endless moments of beauty; striking vistas, the shimmer on the water caused by the wind, a local fisherman wielding an iconic long-tailed boat, and night walks on the beach after dinner. You see the same faces on the beach at the dinner table and everyone looks beyond content, stress doesn't exist in the vacuum known as "Bottle Beach" on the East side of Koh Phangan. We are off to another Koh(island) known as Koh Tao, famous for it's diving and amazing visibility.
We have changed our plans and are now going to Cambodia for a visa run rather than back to Malaysia, anything not to go back to that place, we just hate the vibe there. We have enough time to squeeze 12 days in Cambodia before Ana's mom gets to Krabi. I'm really looking forward to Angkor Wat, I have heard that it's on par with Machu Pichu, we shall see.
