Underwhelming, disappointing, and lame.  The ferry to Macau was wonderful, but I credit Hong Kong with that.  Macau is advertised as this Portuguese fusion mix with Asia.  Lots of Spanish Architecture and ruins along with new Casinos. I think there are around 5 Spanish style buildings on the island, and they are all listed as tourist attractions, just regular buildings, nothing that special.

The Casinos were lame, mostly old and crappy.  A few new ones were nice, they wouldn't let me in since I was wearing sandals.  Of course, all girls can get in who are also wearing sandals, it's like 90 degrees out, but I guess they don't want my money, typical of Asia.  They follow policies blindly without thinking about anything.  Furthermore, they don't offer chips in US dollars and charge an absurd exchange rate to boot, I'd be out about 7% before I even hit the tables since I was leaving China soon and would have to convert the money back 1

. In the states they beg you to come into the Casinos, even offering extra money to cash your payroll check at the casino.  They figure anyone legite enough to do this will surely lose it in the casino.   Those were odds that my mathematical mind couldn't deal with so we left without playing a hand.

Deceptively enough, seems par for the course, pictures are so misleading.  My photos of Macau were stunning, my experience, not so much.  A lot of squalor around the area, despicable when you consider the vast wealth that changes hands at the tables each night.

Off to BALI the next day, speaking of places where the pictures exaggerate reality.
