The weekend after spring break, my friends and I had planned on going to Prague for the weekend with one of the student travel companies. Unfortunately, by the time we got around to booking it the company had cancelled the trip because there were not enough people. This really caused some problems because Garrett had already booked a flight to Prague to meet us there. I decided to bite the bullet and book a flight for myself out of Florence. The only inconvenience was that the flights included two overnight layovers in Zurich (one of my favorite places I've visited). The layovers were actually quite nice, the Zurich airport has an overnight lounge and I was able to rent a bed to get a decent night's sleep.

The next day when I arrived in Prague, Garrett and I went sight seeing right away. We went to the Prague Castle and walked around the cathedral inside the castle walls. Afterwards we walked across the Charles Bridge which was constructed in 1357. It was a really unique part of the city. While walking across, Garrett and I made our wishes. We were told if you touch this part of the statue on the Charles Bridge your wish will come true. After crossing, we went to the Old Town Square and saw the Astronomical Clock. This was a really cool town square. There were tons of young people lounging and hanging out.

On Saturday, Garrett and I went to the John Lennon Wall and took a few pictures. I plan on putting together a panoramic of the whole thing for a photography assignment. We walked across the Charles Bridge again and headed to an authentic beer house for dinner. The U Fleků brewery and restaurant is one of the most famous and popular national landmarks in the Czech Republic. Later that night, we went to a club that was advertised for while we were walking around earlier that day. The club had about 5 floors all with a different musical theme. It was interesting to say the least. We went into the Ice Bar portion of the club which was awesome. You can only go in for a half hour. They give you a jacket, hat and gloves before going into the ice.

The next morning, we went to the train station so he could book a train back to Florence. His train left a lot earlier than my flight, but I didn't feel like sightseeing in Prague alone so I headed to the airport and slept the rest of the day - haha. Prague was a great place to visit and celebrate my 21st birthday!
