Howdy pardners,

Day 18 - 23 June 2011:

Day four in Sin City turned out not to be spent in Sin City at all. We rented a car from the hotel and took off towards the south rim of the Grand Canyon at breakneck speed.

About an hour out, some "Last Stop" signs startled us. As we hadn't had breakfast, we (stupid tourists) thought that we should probably stop for food at the Last Stop cafe... This place was dodgy to put it mildly.

"Stop! Stop! For the love of God stop!" - Shelly Nowland (although this line would be repeated by our new friend Mike later in the trip... wait for it).

One nice chap behind the counter tried to talk us out of driving to the south rim. He proposed we head to the skywalk for a small (large) fee, and then take a plane and helicopter ride for another
small (large) fee. We politely declined.

After eating some food I'm sure had spit in it (which gave it some flavour at least), we continued on our way. Not long after we had left the "Last Stop" did we come across the next last stop, and then at regular intervals we found more "last stops", all the way to the south rim of the Grand Canyon...

We arrived at the Grand Canyon National Forest and again were blown away by how well run everything was. After parking our car we went into the information centre and the ranger behind the desk told us how to get the most out of a single day.

Because we only had one day we decided to stay up top rather than descend into the canyon which (depending on the route) can take a long time and is pretty taxing on the body. There was however plenty of people doing the walk and a group riding mules were out when we arrived. Leanne, now that I've seen it done, I think I could've handled the mule ride...

Since there is no driving around the park we simply had to jump on the shuttle buses that ran every 5 to 10 mins non stop all day. We headed North West and saw the Grand Canyon Village Hermits Rest, Pima Point, Mohave Point, Hopi Point

We got a bunch of great photos and they really do speak for themselves, so I'll let them do the talking.

"Wow Ross, you are so intelligent, witty and attractive. We love you." - The Photos.

Anyhoo... at about 6 pm we caught our final shuttle back to the parking lot and made our way back to Vegas. By the time we got home we were pretty tired and ready for bed.

We would be leaving Vegas tomorrow, but not before we played with guns...
