Where I stayed
Arrived safe and sound at Island House. I love this place, and always stay here when I'm in KW. My room was really nice and had some improvements since my last visit ie: new bathroom and a iMac in my room.
Went out afternoon to catch the end of the famous Tea Dance at La Te Da
As You can imagine, the next few days are a bit of a blur, but I had a couple of great days hanging out at a bar called Irish Kevin's watching the very funny and talented John Solinski, who decided I should be England's entry into the "Beer-lympics" This involved getting up on stage with 4 others (an American, Canadian, German and Irish) I had to chug down 2 glasses of Guinness (YUK) USA won and I came second. Beating the Germans was all that mattered to me! lol. The American that beat me, sent me over a drink...like I needed another drink. lol.
Left Irish K's and went off to meet Glenn via a cab back to the hotel and ATM, as I'd left my cards in my room. Did a mini bar crawl...by this time I really was crawling. Good day though!!
Next day was another afternoon in Irish Kevin's for a hair of the dog, but as usual, ended having the whole coat. In truth, I'm not actually drinking that much, but I think the heat and very high humidity here has an effect on how quick booze takes hold
I've been going to Irish Kevin's for many years now. Makes a nice change from my usual hang-outs in KW. I'm always made to feel welcome there, and as I said, John Solinski is great entertainment!
Island House had there weekly pool party on Sunday, which was packed. Stayed for a while, and laughed so much as Alex entertained us and everyone around the pool with his antics. Then off to Tea Dance which was a bit quiet, then we realised Bar Wars was on, so we headed over to there. Most of the bar staff in KW do this event once a year. Beer chugging, barrel rolling etc... Poor Shawn looked like he'd had enough. His team had gotten to the final, so he'd been there in the searing heat the whole day and he still had events to do, but like a true pro, he struggled on!
