Fiona's Comments:

Our next destination just outside of Worcester had a bit of a hiccup. I directed us on to the wrong part of the Motorway so we headed south instead of north and that added a good 40 minutes to our trip. Called our friends to let them know what had happened.
Martin gave us very clear instructions when we finally left the motorway so we easily found their house. Martin and his family are long family friends - he has family in the same part of rural Queensland where my mum grew up. When she went over to the UK many years ago she stayed with Martin and his family. When we all went over in 1983 (and then I remained in the UK) I visited Martin and his family. I also met his wonderful friends Jenny and Graeme. Whilst I couldn't catch up with Jenny and Graeme this trip we all met Martin's wife Caroline and her mum Anne for the first time.
Martin and Caroline married 12 years ago and we have sent cards, wedding presents, I have spoken with Caroline on the phone but it was so special to be meeting her for the first time. We were greeted with lots of hugs and kisses and then a table full of food - homemade sausage rolls in homemade pastry, scones, fruit cake. It was scrumptious.
Martin and Caroline have renovated the home enormously and now run a B&B with three different rooms on offer. The kitchen is the hub in the middle of the house. It adjoins a family room which is barricaded as this is where Georgia the beautiful white boxer lives.
Georgia and the kids gravitated to each other and when we left they were despondent and apparently Georgia went into a decline for a few days after we had gone. She was missing the kids.
The kids were put into the blue room with three single beds, choc reindeer in each of their pillows and some porcelain jugs on low lying furniture. I removed all breakables and they happily settled in their room watching Smallville on the tablet. Zed and I had the upstairs room which overlooks the back garden. Beneath us is the Garden Room which has its own cordoned off back garden area and a separate entrance. Builders did all the structural stuff, Martin did all the finishing stuff and Caroline did all the decorating.
Martin taught himself to tile and the finishes are incredibly professional. Caroline has a gift for interior decorating and has sourced so much from Ebay. Beds, bedding and towels are all new but all the other stuff is Ebay and she has a real knack. Each room has its own theme and everything is just stunning.
When I see what Caroline has done I wish I had the patience to create such an atmosphere - but alas.
Zoran Comments:
Martyn and Caroline welcomed us and looked after us above and beyond any expectations.  Caroline is an excellent cook and we were treated to wonderful food at breakfast, lunch and dinner.  I really want to thank them for taking us in and treating us so well, it can't be easy with five of us charging into their house like that.
Martyn's family history in Worcester goes back many generations and he showed us how Worcester had developed over the centuries and the parts his family played in that development. 

I am writing this quite some time after we left Worcester and we have visited many places since so I am having trouble remembering the history of Worcester but I do remember it was long and colourful, it is just the details I am lacking at this time.

p.s. Martyn explained the mystery of the hot water issue back in London.  It seems these electronic units are very sensitive to water pressure.  In apartment buildings when lots of people are using water at the same time (ie in the morning) the accompanying drop in pressure causes these units to not work properly.  Later in the day (ie when the plumber comes along to see what the problem is) there are less users so the pressure is higher and lo and behold the unit works properly.  You'd think the plumbing professional would have known that.  I may take the time to email the apartment manager this information to save issues with future renters.
