Dear Blog,
After Rome and Florence we were looking forward to spending a couple of days in the coastal national park which consists of 5 tiny towns known as the Cinque Terre. We took a 2.5 hr train ride from Florence and arrive around lunchtime. We didn't have any accom booked ahead for the first time on our trip. We eventually found a place by walking up the main street of Monterosso. The Villa was on a hill very close to the train station which is handy when you are walking with a broken pack. The room was very nice and cheap too because it is low season. The bed was the biggest King size bed i have ever seen. Vic and i needed to email each other to communicate it was fantastic. also our own bathroom which we don't often have. On the afternoon that we arrived after checking into our room we walked around the small village and down along the beach. It was so nice to be somewhere where there were hardly any tourists ( only because it is end of season) and we could just sit and breath in the fresh air instead of scooter fumes, oh and cross the road without the fear of being run down but a crazy scooter driver. as we didn't have a kitchen we had no choice but to buy dinner so we decided to go to a restaurant ( wow you all say) we had some really good Seafood Spaghetti and some local wine which we enjoyed. We then went for a nice walk and back up to the room for an early night as the next day we were up for a long hike along the Cinque Terre Cliffs between all of the 5 villages, well so we thought. When we woke up we soon realised that the Hike will not be possible, it was raning like crazy. What is wrong with us, why does the rain have to follow us around for our entire trip? Instead we just took the train between the villages which was ok but it was just bucketing down so we gave up and went back to the room and watched DVD;s that Vic sitting on the laptop. I think we watched 4 all up.In the end we didn't end up being able to do what we went to the Cinque Terre for which was the 10km walk along the cliffs as we only stayed for 2 nights. very very dissapointed but what can you do. We hope we have more luck in Switzerland which where we heading to next. A long day on the rails to Interlaken.
