We got up early this morning as we had a very long trip to Sorrento Italy from Dubrovnik. As the crow flies it is not that far away, just over the Adriatic sea and across the shin of the boot of Italy. However the only way to get there from Dubrovnik was to Fly via Munich in Germany, which meant taking 2 flights. when we arrived in Naples airport we then had to get a bus which took us straight to Sorrento and was meant to be a 1h20min trip, but i have never seen so much traffic in my life and the roads along the coast to Sorrento are very windey, think Great Ocean road but worse. It was a nice drive but took almost 3 hours with no air conditioning. anyway we finnaly arrived after 12 hours of travelling and checked into our Hostel. The place was interesting as it was on a very large property with its own vegetable gardens and orchards as it was also a cooking school. we had our own room and own bathroom which was nice. The next day we took a train down to Pompei. Just in case you don't know what Pompei is, it is a sight full of ruins from a town that was distroyed when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79AD, actually 10 years prior to the Vocano eruption there wss also a major earthquake so the residents of Pompei didn't have much luck. The area around Pompei is massive and includes some fantstic ruins of buildings, churches, streets with houses and shops etc, and even a large sports ground. The town was only uncovered in the 18th century and was entirely covered in Ash until that time. Archeologists are still excavating and finding things all the time. It is a really fascinating place to visit. That same night we headed back to the Hostel and had a very nice dinner cooked by the students at the school. It was 15 euro for 4 courses which consisted of bruschetta which tomato and pesto for starters, a spaghetti dish that looked like nothing but had the most amazing flavours like chilli, herbs, garlic, lemon etc. Tuna wuth herbs for main and this was the nicest Tuna i have ever had, it was sooooo tender and apparently because it was baby Tuna. then we had a fruit type cake for dessert. was very very yummo. The following day we took a bus down to Amalfi along some of the most mazing coast line we will ever see although the bus ride was a shocker, it was a Sunday so it was sooo busy amd we had to stand most of the way which was a huge challenge when the bus is driving around hair pin bends very close to cliff faces into the sea. Was quite scary at times but amazing at the same time. These bus drivers are very skilled. The village of Amalfi was nice but nothing much. We saw  a wedding which was nice and it appeared that the entire village was at the chuch  We then headed back along the coast towards Sorrento and stopped off at Positano which was a really nice village on side of mountains on the Sea. It was very nice strolling through the town eating Ice Cream, after that we got back on the very crowded bus and this time we had a maniac driver, plus we were still standing and at times almost sitting on the lady next to me. This night we had some nice Pizza for dinner and headed to bed. Next we are heading to Rome.
