We took a morning flight from Zagreb the capital of Croatia to Dubrovnik, a small town at the very southern tip of Croatia on the Adriatic sea across from Italy. We were picked up from the Bus stop by our Host and taken back to the Villa. This place was pure luxury by our standards. A nice clean room with very comfy beds, ensuite and our own kitchenette. we were happy to be in this room for 4 nights. Dubrovnik is a gorgeous town. It has an Old town with a City Wall that is still fully intact which makes it the most amazing city wall in the world. The old town itself is full of little alleys and completely car free. There are many many restaurants selling mainly Italian influenced foods and some fantastic Gelati to rival the stuff you get in Italy. We did a walk right arounf the City Wall which had some fantastic views out to the sea and over the Town. It was really a great walk. Luckily the weather was nice on the day we did this as it did turn for the worst for 2 days. The 2nd Day which was one of the rainy days we took a little boat out to a small island called Lokum which was about 700m from the town. It had a Forttress a few 'beaches' including a nude one, not that anyone was swimming due to the weather, there were also resident Peacocks. The little island was very nice to walk around and get away from the tourist filled Dubrovnik town. The 3rd day was raining all day and i also had a bad cold so we went down into the town to get some food for lunch and spent the day in our room watching American soaps and making use of the free Wireless Internet. i forgot to mention that our place was located up the hill from the Old town and about 500 steps so it was a nice 15 minute walk going down the steps but a tough 20 plus minute walk going up. We are both getting quite used to walking up stairs etc though so we didn't find it too bad. SO besides the awful weather for half the trip Dubrovnik was a fantastic place and one of the nicest places we have visited on our entire trip. Nest we head to Sorrento in Italy on a very lonf day of travelling.
