Greek Islands

I might sound a little negative right now but that is probably because we are stuck on an Island like Gilligan, we have been on Santorini in the Greek Islands for 5 nights now, was originally meant to be 4 but due to rough weather the ferries have been cancelled 2 days in a row and we can't get to Mykonos which is our next destination. Anyway about Santorini, we arrived here last Tuesday the 18th Sep byt Ferry from Athens, the Ferry was good and took 4 hours. The owner of the place we are staying at picked us up from the Port which was free and very handy. We are staying in a place which has about 30 or more rooms each with own ensuite. This place also has a pool which we have loved. The beach is only 50m down the road although we haven't spend much time on the beach as the sand is Black and too hot, we much prefer the pool. There are many restaurants and Bars next to the beach. One of the nights we went to the village of Oia (ia) which is where the famous sunset is ( we are on the other side of the island so don't much of a sunset) we got there early as recommended (thanks Jen) and got a good spot from which to view the sunset. You are quite high on a cliff which makes for a very good view of the Caldera which is basically an extinct volcano. Santorini is a very hilly island and its main town of Fira has little paths going up and down everywhere full of souviner shops and restaurants which have some very good views. It is very expensive here to eat and drink which has made it a little tough on the budget. To be honest I have enjoyed Santorini but it was as magnificent as I expected it to be. I am sure there are other more beautiful islands in thre Greek Islands. We are booked on yet another ferry tomorrow morning so lets hope the weather holds up so we can finally get to Mykonos and spend 2 nights there. We have had a change in pace here at least, very different from the rest of the trip so far. I am now bored of sunbaking and relazing, some of you I am sure would want to swap but I am ready to move on.

Sun baking
Hi Liss & Vic
Your travel notes are excellent and certainly do set the scene for us back at home, slogging away at work!
I don't envy you the sunbaking, but the idea of watching sunsets, sunrises, making new aquaintances and lolling around reading books, sounds inviting to me. But too much of a good thing does have its downside (just can't think of any at the mo). Be careful of those searing rays - we don't need a shrivelled up homecomer - hugs 'n kisses to both and see you SOON.
