Dear Blog,
Today we got up stupid early and flew out of Ireland on time. We arrived in Brussels and jumped on the bus into the city getting in about 10:30am, This is where the backpacking has really started and you realise that 25 extra kgs strapped around you is heavy!! anyway we managed to get away with not paying any excess baggage so yay for us.
Brussels in a nice city, quite coring and not much to see but we knew that would be the case so it was good just to roam the streets. The most famous sight here is the Manneken Pis fountain, a small statue of a little boy taking a leak...odd yes. We did the fun touristy things like eat a waffle, and as the heading suggests these things do indeed rock, they are the yummiest thing i have had in a long time...we then went to a Pub and had a Brussels brewed beer, Belgium itself has the highest number of different beers than anywhere in the world. This beer was quite fruity and not like Beer as we know it. After the Beer ( yes only 1) it was time for Frites, Cjips in a cone with Mayo, yummo...yes you can see what we like to indugle in, naughty food and Beer.
The Hostel we are staying in in probably the nicest so far. we have a private room which sits in the loft on the 4th floor. Its more like a Hotel room but cheaper, and free Wireless Internet so i can sit in the room typing this blog.
|Tonight we are very tired after our very long day so early to bed, we are up again in the morning to head to Bruges which i am really looking forward to.Its a 1 hour train ride. Hopefully the weather is a little better there than what it was here today, raining, it seems to be following us everywhere we go...glad i bought the Gore Tex Jacket now
thats all for now. here are some pics we took today, also look at the Ireland and Scotland sets as i think Vic has added more Photo's

Hey Guys!
I signed up for this just so I could say hi and stay in touch with you guys :) Looks like you're having a great time! I really wish I were traveling around with you instead of being locked to this desk (the dissertation is due on the 3rd so I have to get it finished, hopefully by the 31st, fingers crossed) Anyway, we're thinking of you both, Yuri's loving the new job but it keeps him out until late and I'm going nuts trying to finish the paper and plan the wedding. Keep in touch!
Love Yuri and Katie
