Dingle to Doolin
Entry 14 of 46 | show all | print this entry |
Today we drove from Dingle to Doolin, we took a car ferry across the Shannon river and headed up to the Cliffs of Moher, some of the biggest ocean cliffs in the world. They were nice but not as great as we expected. from there we headed to Doolin, a small country town near the coast. It is famous for its Traditional music scene. This was probably our favorite town in Ireland. a population of 600 and about 10 times more tourists, all of which were in the pubs at night. Being a Saturday it was busy but these pubs were packed. We stayed in a hostel which is a renevated 17th century farmhouse, it was very cosy. We stayed in an 8 person dorm which is not my favorite thing but only for 1 night. We made use of the kitchen and cooked ourselves and then headed to one of the 2 pubs down the road for a few Guiness. We sat outside under the verandah and had a view of the rolling hills and cows, you don't get that in the big city. very cool. The music started at 9:30pm and was a band of 4 playing traditional Irish music. It sounds great live and felt very Traditional. Tomorrow is out last day in Ireland.

Hi, this is AK (for those who don't me, I am her 'Mommy's' sister, which makes me her Aunt..... not just any old Aunt - she was born on MY birthday, 17 March, which makes us both psuedo Irish. Anyway that's not why I write..... my purpose in responding to her 'Mommy's' posting is to ask how she thinks it is relaxing to get up at 3:45am......
Anyway, love the photos and when you come home Lis... show all
