Hi guys,
We decided to take it fairly easy in Saigon and we still seemed to end up trekking allover. We visited the Notre Dame Cathedral, the War Remnants Museum, the Reunification Palace, HCMC art gallery and a jade pagoda temple.
The WR Museum was fascinating and extremely moving, it was mostly a collection of photographs during the war. It showed planes, people being rounded up, pictures of civilians just before they were needlessly killed, the effects of agent orange (dropped by the Americans to clear huge areas of forest where the Viet Cong were hiding) and napalm.
The Reunification Palace, formerly the Presidential Palace, is still in the condition it was found in when the Northern tanks crashed through the gates to 'liberate' South Vietnam on 30th April 1975.
We would write more but it's a couple of weeks and our memories are already failing to remember all the facts.
We did enjoy some good pho in Saigon too. xxxxx
oh..... and we lost luke's wallet.
