Where I stayed

When we arrived at our B&B, this splurge accommodation left us both feeling a bit shell-shocked- it was SOOO good and far far more amazing than anywhere we've stayed on this trip or anywhere else.

We were welcomed in by Matt, one of the owners and shown around the main living area. The view from this terrace over one of Buzios' many bays was stunning, even on the cloudy dull day it was!

A welcome plata was laid on for us as well as a tasty caipirinha each. It was literally heaven!! After the plate was cleared in lightening speed, we were shown around the rest of the house and the pool areas. It's so well thought out to provide guests of the 4 bedrooms with privacy, beautiful views and relaxation. We also got an upgraded room which came with a sea view- bonus!! The care and attention that Matt and his wife Sue have put into their place shows up everywhere- including towels on every sun lounger, free snorkelling gear, kayaks and the fresh coffee maker in our ensuite!

That afternoon we took to the streets and walked the short 15 minutes to the main town centre area. It was full of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes and the main streets were closed to traffic. It was a great little place to be spending the next few days!

During our stay we filled up our days chilling at the B&B, having a massage (outside our room overlooking the sea), sauna and jacuzzi session, exploring Buzios's many beaches and coves on foot, bus or boat, surfing (where Daz caught his best ever and only Brazilian wave), sampling the local restaurants and bars, soaking up local live music (including a rocking band on the main square), eating churros and swishing it down with a few beers, cocktails and glasses of wine. PERFECTO!!

To top it off, besides the usual great tasting breakfast we got each morning of home made juice and granola, fresh fruit and cooked eggs and cheese & ham, on our last day Matt made us his secret recipe French Toast. We had eaten a big meal at lunch time and decided not to go out for the last night so they thought we'd be hungry in the morning! But anyway the man is a genius, he has found the perfect bread to make the toast with and serves it with the most divine tasting coconut sauce that is such a close mimic of maple syrup I could have sworn it was in there till we were told you couldn't buy it in Brazil!

All in all, Buzios was a such s fantastic place and we definitely left wishing we could stay longer. But that's always good in our books as it means hopefully one day we'll go back.... ;-)
