So I am on kind of a whirlwind tour as I do not have much time. I arrived in San Gil in the dark, not knowing what to expect. When I go to the hostel I was greeted by the two brothers who ran the place. They were super welcoming and ready to help you out with whatever you needed and invite you to play rock band and go out salsa dancing. They were super-hot too-wish I was 10yrs younger!
Anyway, the town had a nice plaza and everyone was hanging out there at night and people were shopping. It had a really nice feel. I also checked out the park area near the river where the artesans sell their goods. I also tried my first arepa-meat or cheese filled corn dough that is deep fried and yummy!
I went to Baricharra for half a day which was also a nice whitewashed colonial town on a hill with a couple of nice churches. There were also nice views of the surrounding countryside mountains and valleys.
