Last night after updating my blog, I treated my self to a nice dinner. Nothing to fancy, just better than fast food. I went to a restaurant on Rue de something something and had a nice pesto pasta and a half bottle of wine (Beaujolais served slightly chilled, thank you very much). My server, who may have been from Italy, was...very complimentary. When I was ready to order he asked me, "What can I get from you my beautiful angel from heaven?" I, of course, laughed at him.

When I was just about finished with dinner these two older gentlemen (Jean-Luc and Jean-Michel) sat next to me. We got into a bit of conversation about my trip, etc. Jean-Luc spoke fluent English and French, Jean-Michel spoke little English, and I speak a little French. So we conversed mostly in french, and when J-L or I would get stuck on a word, we'd look to J-M and be fine. So I got a little practice with my french and they bought me dessert and a limoncello Flower Market

. Not a bad deal for Melanie...

Next day I woke up around 9 to find blue sky and sun. Success! At least my trip to Nice was not a total waste of time...

I went down to the beach to take some pictures and get ready for beach day. I was out for about 5 hours and despite the sun tan lotion that I put on EVERY 25 MINUTES, I still got burned. One of the girls from my room, Deann and I went down to the flower market in the afternoon and then out to lunch for all-you-can-eat mussels for 11 Euro.

My train that night left at 9. I had a lovely couchette to sleep in; imagine a space as big as a walk-in closet stuffed with two triple bunk-beds and you will have some idea of what it was like. The only bright side is that I was with all old people, so they went to bed early and were very quiet.

Paris is next....
