Back in Matsuyama
Entry 1 of 1 | show all | print this entry |
I have just finished my first day of teaching back at Ehime University after a fantastic 5 week break for spring vacation. As usual the orchestra is practising scales and the sound is echoing around the campus. The new students seem glad to be here, the old ones to, and it is nice to be back, though I can feel already that the time until summer vacation is going to fly by and there is so much to be done! The past two weekends have been spent sitting under cherry trees, admiring the blossoms and drinking and eating way too much. A guitar or a set of drums was present at each, and used well to entertain ourselves and those picnicking around us. Hanami is awesome, but it really takes it out of you... drinking in the sun is something we don't do much back home, huh? My trip home was awesome, Hong Kong was awesome, and coming back to work is a shock to the system. That said, after 3 classes today, I am glad to say I am glad I came back to this job. Next week I start teaching at a kindy one morning a week, and a few private students. Cousin Lee is planning on coming to visit me in Golden Week, hurrah! I am counting the days until i go to see Cirque du Soleil, and can't wait for summer holidays, when I am off to Sado for 3 weeks, Helen is coming to Japan for Earth Celebration from NZ, and then after we hang out in Tokyo apres-festival, I am off to the UK for Donna and Gary's wedding, and reunions with loved ones from the JET family! But for tonight, it is taiko practise and dessert with Rachelle. The weather is getting warmer, muggy and rainy at the moment. Everyone is sneezing with hay fever, but I am loving the spring and looking forward to more blooms.
