I arrived yesterday to the welcoming arms of my cousin Jenny and her beautiful family. They have the two most adorable boys I've ever met, Oszkar and Artur.
Jenny escaped the trappings of domesticity today by taking me on a tour of London. It was a whirlwind show of art history, 1600 to the 1960's, beginning at the National Gallery. Then the Millennium Bridge carried us over the Thames from St. Paul's Cathedral to the Tate Modern, where we took in an Edward Hopper exhibit. His paintings are simply stunning; they all gave me goose bumps.
After a pint at a proper English pub, dinner found us at an upscale Thai place in Soho, where I mistook a chili for a bell pepper. Funny that over lunch we had just been discussing the masochism of eating spicy food.
It hits me in spurts that I'm actually here; actually doing this. Unreal.
