If Star Wars Day wasn't enough fun for us (which falls on May 4th: "May the 4th be with you") we had Cinco de Mayo to make up for it. Molly and I had a bit of a scare in the Wellington airport and almost didn't make it back to Queenstown for the party. However, the party gods were with us on this one and our flight was the only flight to leave the runway that morning. While on the plane Molly and I had plenty of time to brainstorm the perfect Cinco de Mayo party outfit and what an outfit it was.

Of course this side of the world doesn't celebrate this great Mexican holiday (and even had to ask what day the party would fall on...gosh...)so we had to represent our neighbor to the south with an all out fiesta. Mex and Dash hosted this bash and along with their five British roommates, took the time to grow mustaches and compile great outfits. Dash dressed as a dishwasher and Mex just looked sleezy and great (which complimented his perfect rendition of the Carlton dance a little too well). The other housemates were complete with ponchos and sombros yet looked at me funny when I asked where the pinata was.

Molly, Cathryn and I, however, took the prize for Life of the Party. Along with the homemade guacamole, salsa and "Hola! Me llamo es..." name tags (so we could have names like Marta, Jose, Concepcion...), we constructed a way to bring tequilla shots to the masses. Molly crocheted little pouches that we wore around out necks that held one shot glass, a salt shaker and gummy worms. We also had a container of limes and a bottle of tequilla. Perfecto. We definetly gave the party the extra Mexican flare.

But with all the Mexican flare we still ended up having an 80's dance party. We figured that Mexico enjoyed the 1980's just as much as we did...but not nearly as much as Cathryn.
