Just the other night while I was working at Winnie's I had a table of two travelers who had just arrived to Queenstown. After they ate they asked about the nightlife here in Queenstown and where to stay since they were living in a tent. I told them about the holiday park (makes it sound heaps better than motorpark) where we live but then it dawned on me that they could just camp in front of our house for free. I drew them a little map and sent them up the mountain to find Molly.
Without any warning, Molly had two random people from Colorado at her doorstep. I was a bit worried that Molly would be a bit freaked out with no prior warning but like the great gal that she is she took them in and even offered to let them sleep inside.
So Mac and Jeanie stayed with us for a few nights. It was nice having new people around and of course we were glad to save them from the wet, cold nights of sleeping in a tent.
Which brings me to my main point: Even though you all think it's funny that we live in a "motorpark" we have had so many people WANT to stay with us. First there was Megan, Naomi, and Danni. Danni even came back a second time. Then there was Lisa who PAID to live with us. Obviously there was Mac and Jeanie and now there is Cathryn our new roommate.
Cathryn is from England and works with me at Winnie's and is a great girl. She had been living in her hostel and cleaning every morning for a discounted rate but Molly and I saved her from the treterous early mornings...although we did tell her that she was more than welcome to wake up and clean our house if she was ever going through withdrawl.
And this weekend we'll have a house full. Our friend Jeremy from Christmas in Nelson is coming to stay for a few days and our friend Dani from Winnie's is staying, too.
So next time you think our accomodation isn't up to par, think again...it's the hottest thing in Queenstown.
