Since our arrivial to Queenstown I have been a waitress at a resturant called Winnie Bagoe's. Yes, I'm a waitress. It's a great and popular pizza resturant and I do have to admit it's some of the best pizza I have ever eaten. We have been written up in the Lonely Planet so 87% of our clientel are tourists which leaves me having the same conversations with each table I wait on. They all demand to know where I'm from, why I'm here, how long am I here, where I went to college, where am I going next and so on. It's always the same and I've gotten good about putting on the fake smile and reciting my monolouge. But it does wonders in pulling in the tips.
Everyone I work with is really great
Molly usually joins us for after work drinks and has become a default winnie's employee. It's a good thing because I am able to come home and gossip with her knowing who everyone is. And she gets my lovely discount without even having to work.
Molly tried to resist the Winnie's way for awhile...but of course succumed to its ways in due time. She tried her hand at cleaning hotel rooms and then moved on to washing dishes at the Pig and Whistle before recently becoming a bartender at Buffalo, the bar owned by Winnie's.
The Buffalo Club is a great two story bar that boasts a fire pit and several pool tables to keep their drinkers happy. Molly has mastered the strange Kiwi drinks already and looks like a pro behind the bar. It's great that she is working there because the Buffalo kids and the Winnie's crew like to hang out and thanks to Molly she has a in with them. She and I will be a wealth of all gossip.
So now that we are working at the two most popular places in Queenstown we are indeed making our way up the social ladder. I know you didn't doubt that would happen.
