After a month of talk we're finally in the South Island! We drove Angie onto the ferry and two hours later arrived in Picton. We found ourselves a quaint little park and parked ourselves there for the next three days. Having done that, we can now officially say that we have mastered the art of doing nothing.

The big highlight of Picton was due in part to Mike and his hair. Considering Molly and I are rated ten in everything we do he decided that he would trust us to dread his hair. And we did just that. It took two days but Molly and I have officially mastered the art of dreading hair and are thinking about persuing that as a career when we return home. Or maybe this will just be one of the activites we leave with the van. It's only appropriate to dread hair when you live in a van, I suppose.

And don't worry...Molly and I still have run-your-fingers-through-it hair. Well only on days that we shower.

It'll make you happy to know that we're back to our old habits. Molly and I are again showering in parking lots via the solar shower and cooking dinner on the wok in parks. And we look the part too. Both nights we went to a cafe for coffee and both nights we were given free food. Night one a fantastic pate sandwhich and the second night muffins. What can I say, that quickly became our favortie cafe.

We enjoyed Picton but decided to leave when we overstayed our welcome. Last night was the first time in the month and a half we've been traveling that someone has knocked on our van and asked us to park it somewhere else to sleep. We had to move to a parking lot near the harbor in which the noise from the incoming trains and ferry boats kept us awake all night.

Time to move on. Nelson here we come!
