Having said that, Molly and I haven't showered in days. So this morning when we woke up in the park of Tairua we decided that enough was enough...we needed to be clean. Molly took a shower using the solar shower propped up on the side of our van while I took a shower in the lake. Unfortunately the lake was salt water and I don't feel much cleaner than before...
We drove in the rain and gusty wind from the Corromandel Pennisula to Matamata aka Hobbiton this morning. (And just for future reference when I say "we drove" I really mean "Molly drove." I have yet to have much practice driving and I feel as if it is a social justice that I don't take to the steep and curvy mountains quite yet.) We had all intentions of visiting the Shire and seeing the hobbit holes but the tour was a rather pricey $50. Most of the jazz was removed from the filming locations so basically all there was to see was plywood stuck on the side of the hills. And really, let's be honest...Molly and I saw quite a bit of plywood this summer. We don't need to pay to see more.
Mike is skipping through the shire as we speak and Molly and I are enjoying our hour of normalcy, visiting knitting stores and using the internet. We're even thinking about getting a coke in a little bit. Big day!
In a bit we'll drive to Rotorua aka Mordor where we will stay for a few days. There's quite a lot to do around there: see glow worms in underground gaves, go Zorbing, sledging, tramping... all sorts of outdoorsy type things. Molly and I are hopping to have legs of steel by the time we get home. Her arms are already pretty intimidating with all the work she's been doing with the lack of power steering with ole Ange.
That's all for today. We'll be arriving to Wellington in the upcoming weeks giving us better access to computers and the high speed internet (not so fast here...or cheap for that matter.) so we'll talk to you then.
Miss you more than all the LOTR nuts walking around this town!
