We reluctantly left Angela's house...the family sent us off with an almost tearful goodbye. I'm sure we'll see them again in our travels...
Earlier in the day we met a German guy named Henning that thought he might travel with us so before departing the city we met up with him. After hanging out with him for a bit we decided it was too late to leave and parked the van in a parking lot and had a great night of sleep. Unfortunately it's a bit crowded with three people in the back but an adventure nonetheless.
Anyways...we made the long drive up the coast to Cape Reigna. During the drive we saw our first sheep (and a million others), picked up a hitchiker and took a walk in a forest
We found a great camping spot moments away from the cape and set up shop right near the river. Having no electricty we set up in the dark and Mike cooked us our first meal. Hamburgers and baked beans. I bet you didn't know that you could cook hamburgers in a wok. The wok is going to take us places. PS. if you know how to cook a butterball turkey in a wok send us the recipe. Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away.
We woke up early, about the same time the sun rose, and had a leisurely breakfast and then made our way to the beach...just a minutes walk away. We all went swimming in the near freezing Pacific and tried our best to stand upright in the huge waves. We were yet again the only ones there
We spent one more night at the camp site and then packed our stuff for the next location: the Bay of Islands. Molly and I are enjoying our van and get good sleep. We actually think we're cut out for this backpackers way of life. We wear the same clothes for days and shower outside. It's great. Mike continues to be a great traveling mate. We're having a good time...we don't have a care in the world.
