We left tackyville and headed for the polar opposite end of the spectrum. We arrived in keswick after driving on the back roads through much of the lake district. One of the most naturally beautiful places we have ever seen. It actually looks a little like BC with the mountains and lakes as far as the eyes can see. It feels like we are in Canada. Now we know why people love this place.
The town of keswick is very clean and quaint. Nice little shops with bakeries and pubs every other door.
On a side note. It has been very interesting to see that in every place we have visited, there has been "oxfam" and "cancer research UK" stores on the main streets. They are like salvation army type stores where they are full of donated goods and the money from sales goes to their respective causes. It is nice to see this kind of thing in such abundance I guess.
We ate dinner in a 17th century pub that was voted pub of the year in 2007
We checked into our b&b that is perfectly located between the town and a gorgeous lake (see pictures). Check out the view from our window!!!
The next morning we waited out the rain and then went for a hike to one of the many peaks around the area. It was a fabulous view (see pictures). Although we couldn't stay too long as Meg was about to be blown away. It was incredibly refreshing both to do something like that with all the fresh air and to experience that after the excessiveness that we saw in blackpool.
We headed to a traditional pub for some traditional live music and food. The food was great but the first 2 songs played were neil young... So much for traditional English music but we had fun none the less.
Off the Scotland!

a shot of B & B row, ours is in the middle
. Now we know why. The food is incredible, reasonable and the local pints it serves are fabulous. We checked into our b&b that is perfectly located between the town and a gorgeous lake (see pictures). Check out the view from our window!!!
