So we get of the train in Munich and start our new routine. It goes a ,little like this; What country are we in, how do you say hello/good-bye/thank you & do you speak English and where exactly are we staying...then we realize we havent eaten in 15 hours and should find some food. Lucky for us we had just arrived in Bavaria, land of real beer, vieners and pretzels the size of your head.

Our first night we somehow found ourselvs in a smoky German Karioke bar packed with people of all flavors and run by a little Chinease woman and her Italian bartender. (It was very obvious that neither enjoed the others company and when she turned her back he made faces and muttered unmentionable things in a few different languages) SO needles to say the place had some character. We sat at the bar drinking on some good beer trying to remind ourselves we were in fact in Germany, and not some bad open mic night in Jacksonville.

You have never been to a Kariokee night until youīve been to one when the people who are singing are singing bad American songs in a language other thahn their first. It was hysterical. American pop song after American pop song, we heard it all. On of my favorites was Miss AMerican Pie sung by a well fed German, and yes, he sang the whole thing. ALong with the rest of us I might add, he drove ze chevy to ze levyz till the levyz were dry...he was awesome. I canīt make fun of him because I wont even go do Kariokee in my language let alone someone elses. At the stroke of midnight it was officially Daves Birthday and after communicating this to the bartender we took what we thought was a free shot of Jager. Unitll the CHInease lady noticed that we took a shot and she asked us to pay up. Our Italian friend just said, what can I do, and walked away.

Daveīs Birthday was May 24, and he turned 24, he calls it his golden year. We woke up on this GOlden year to our favorite hostel breakfast of stale white rolls and coffe. The coffe is awesome by the way, and I love bread and butter, so over al its not to bad. Then we took off on a bike tour which started off awesome. Dave was named the official äss man, which meant he had to ride last in the group to make sure we didnīt lose anyone. It was a very informative tour..Dave and I shuddered as our imaginations brought us back 60 years to Hitlers time and Imagined the hordes of soldiers marching in the plaza that we then stood. ANyways, the tour was going awesome...and then the skies opened up and were relentless. It lasted about 45 minutes, so when you see the pictures of us you will know why we are soaking wet. But it all ended with an Augustiner and a pretzel so I canīt complain.

We met up with our newly made friends from all over the world to go to the Haufbraughaus (sorry abuot the spelling Dave just walked away and I have no clue). This place is really remarkable. Its a guant beer hall with hundereds of lond wooden picnic like benches filled with Germans and Tourists drinking 1 liter Steins of beer. The ceilings are enormous and if you look closley enough you can see remnents of the Swasticas, now covered with Bavarian flags. So weīre drinking having a great time and our friends decide its time to give Dave a real surprise. I cover for them and keep him busy. They were going to ask the Bavarian band if they would sing him Happy Birthday in German. They agreed and I got the signal, so I told Dave we had to go join everyone to look at an awesome fountain. Seriously, a fountain. I canīt believe he fell for it. We were in the middle of a Bavarian Beer hall, but nonetheless he did and the band, complete with leiderhosen called him up to conduct his birthday song. It was awesome. After the song was done he wen tto step down and they grabbed hiom back to conduct the next tune. And what else would you expect to hear from a Bavarian band in a beer hall but John Denver. Oh yes, they played Country Road. I thought it was the funniest thing Iīd ever seen/heard in my entire life. Iīve got it all on tape, hopefulkly it will work for you to check out. Our friends video is better, but we havent been able to upload it.

Well theres a line behind me so thats all for now. Love everyone!
