Our group is large enough to allow a split into two, so that those of us who wish to hike Sinai at a more reasonable hour can do a sunset hike, rather than a sunrise hike. We take off at 2 pm from our hostel to begin the three hour hike to the top. I'm glad I've been working out and hiking Sabino Canyon and Tumamoc in Tucson, as I'm one of the few to make it to the top without using a camel.

It's a truly awe-inspiring sunset from the top. The trip back is a bit on the scary side, as we have to make our way back in pitch darkness. I follow a guide who has a woman on each hand, allowing me to proceed extra cautiously when one of them slips despite his best efforts. We all make it down in one piece, but not without some scary moments.
