A welcome break from the hassle and bustle of the cities, we arrived in the uber-touristy Playa Santa Lucia, lined with numerous beach-side resorts; of course we ended up in the mosquito-ridden, dingy, cheap one :-( Apart from working on our tan, we also managed to fit in a couple of dives including an amazing dive to watch bullsharks feeding (we were only a few metres away from these fascinating beasts!) and to swim inside a ship wreck. We also met some great fellow divers, who smuggled us into their luxury resort so that we could enjoy a couple of complimentary Cuba Libres in the pool bar after a hard dive's work! I'm sad to say that both Alison and I really enjoyed chilling with the foreigners, as the constant feeling of being cheated and used by the locals, especially the jiniteros was really dragging us down. Although visiting Cuba was an eye-opening experience, it was a tough one, and I think you only fully realise that when you travel off the beaten track like we did.
