There's a thermal spa here called The Polynesian Spa which we payed visit to. We got our own private smelly hot pool and had champagne while we cooked in it. Very luxurious. As smelly as it was it was very relaxing.
The attendant for the private pool area was a little odd. We had to wait for about 10 minutes before we got a pool during which time he showed great interest in all things Irish. He was Japanese, he had all of the Corrs' albums and was their biggest fan. "Jim Corr will be 42 this year" he delightfully informed us. We didn't know wether to laugh or call the men in white coats. He didn't seem to show much of an interest in what I had to say about the good looks of the sisters. Although he was amazed that I had actually seen her in real life. Couldn't believe it. When I told him how short she was he couldn't help but laugh out loud at the irony that she was "not only the youngest, but the smallest too!! HA!! HA!!" Eh, yeah.
I asked him if he liked U2. Lets just say his frown and silence indicated that he wasn't a big fan. He just moved on to Irish/US presidential links from "Kennedy to Clinton. Its all very strange, don't you think? Lots of Irish. I like them"
The next day we went luging (which sounds pervy but isn't). Its just a fancy word for go-carting down a big steep track and you have to put your handle bars forward to go faster and pull them to go slower (very v technical so it was!!). There are 3 levels of difficulty. Everyone has to do the easy one first before they can do the other ones. Of course no one does the middle one next. ADVANCED PLEASE!! You zip down the hill at ridiculous speed, you even become airborne if yo hit the right spot at a good speed. Theres a speedometer at the fastest point that tells you how fast you're going. I was going 81Km an hour!!! And they havne't even got an engine or a seat belt in them!! Despite the numerous signs on each corner recommending you slow down it was just so much more fun to see how far you could push it before your cart was about to flip. Great fun.
Then we went to the Agrodome, which is basically a huge barn where New Zealanders boast about how lovely their sheep are and how talented their sheep dogs are, I have never laughed so hard. You go and watch a sheep shearer shear sheep (try saying that after a few) and dogs herd sheep and also they had 20 different types of sheep on stage.
Wait a second!! There are different kinds of sheep??
