So we left the Hunter Valley behind and headed south west (Sydney was south east) towards the Blue Mountains. We really had no clue where we were going and the only map we had would get us only half way there. After that we had to rely on road signs and a small map we had in a guidebook to show us the way. Eventually (AFTER 4 HOURS!!!) we found the place and it really lived up to the hype we heard before we came.

They are called the Blue Mountains because the air looks like it has a blue mist hanging above the forests, caused by the eucalyptus trees that grow here. The main sight to see are the Three Sisters, a rock formation that jutts out from a cliff face. Its pretty cool. You can walk up to it from the top of the cliff along a specially built walkway or you can take a cable car ride, which has a glass floor in the middle, across the valley over a beautiful waterfall to see it. We did both. Aishlings dad and I also made our way out onto the rocks themselves, by walking down loads of really steep steps. The steps go all the way down to the bottom of the valley where there is nothing but dense forest for about 300 miles. Amazing stuff. Actually a few friends of mine and I are going to go back up in a few weeks to trek through some of the forest and camp for a while. Should be great.

So, anyway, the views are spectacular (its amazing how you never get sick of great views) and there are loads of little nooks and crannies to explore, including Wentworth falls from where we watched an amazing sunset.

There's something about the place thats just.....big.....or something. Can't quite put my finger on it. It makes you feel like you don't even exist its so massive.

So we made our way back to Sydney, following the road signs a getting lost every now and then because of a detour from road works. But we made it back in one piece.
