The plane landed on what looked like a deserted air strip on Jurrassic Park. Couldn't see the airport, just a few straw rooved huts. Well actually, the huts turned out to be the airport. Very cute.

The airport minibus took us to our 'Resort' called Bill Resort (theres no 's' after Bill for some reason) which is a collection of Bungalows on the beach on a quiet part of the Island. Was reasonable enough too. The place was really nice and our bungalow was right on a lovely white sand beach. There was a little coral reef about 10 metres out that we could swim around and see all the tropical fish and even turtles. It even had its own restaurant with very nice food. As nice as our place was there were some other ones that were just amazing. If we were'nt traveling on a budget I would definately do this island in style. Some of the resorts would just take your breath away.

For the first 3 days we rented a moped, which was a lifesaver just like in Chiang Mai. We had read that a lot of foreingers have accidents or are killed on Samui each year using mopeds. But we decided that they were just drunken idiots and we weren't. But in fairness the roads are pretty dodgy for mopeds, especially the main roads where sand has blown onto the sides. You could easily lose control of the bike if you were going at speed. The bike we had on the first day was a little dodgy itself so we changed for a better one the next day. Apart from the danger and scaryness we could go anywhere on the island we wanted to and we found some nice secluded coves and beaches with no one there but ourselves. We could even drive from town to town shopping and looking for nice restaurants. Its so much cheaper than getting taxis on the island which are apparently very expensive.

On Teusday we booked a day out on a speed boat, which took us snorkelling around some coral reefs in the national marine park, about 40km from Koh Samui. That was amazing. So many colourful fish and corals. We even saw a clown fish, like Nemo in Finding Nemo. Unfortunately my camera can't swim so there'll be no photos of that.

After that we sped off to some island, which was very beautiful and the headquarters for the national marine park. We kayaked around the island in the scorching heat and I got sunburned. Lovely stuff. Afterwards I climbed to the top of the island, about 500 metres, which was very tough. I left at about 1pm thinking I'd be back in plenty of time for the boat which was leaving at 3pm. Of course I made it back down in time, about 2.30pm, but it turns out that I heard the driver wrong and we were to leave at 2pm!! So I kept a boatload of 25 people waiting for a half an hour while I was off galavanting in the mountains!! Very embarrassing.

Anyway, they took us to some more fab islands before taking us back to Koh Samui. Then we packed our bags and slept before the next big part of our journey. The next day we were making our way to Malaysia.
