people, left me with a happy smile on my face also. We were leaving
the cold days of winter for sunny and warm Florida. I was the last passenger
to board and that also left me lucky and thankful. I had planned the next flight.
But weather in Florida had turned to a misty rain early and I wanted to get
there to enjoy an extra day. Sunday I was to attend my Chicago High School
Reunion in St Petersburg, at Fort DeSoto Park. It would be the 6th picnic of
classmates and I had been at 5 of them. My friend was meeting me there for our
own reunion as classmates of Jan. 1946. We found we were the oldest classmates attending! Wow, we felt we were looking pretty good for our age and still getting around
and being very active. We met many new friends there and one from my Chicago
neighberhood, who also happened to be on the same flight down. He was amazed
that I knew what seat he was in. I was across the aisle and when he stood up
I thought he was going to hit the ceiling. So if ever you are in doubt about
attending a High Scool Reunion, I have not missed a one. I am proud to say
that. I hope to attend another in Sept of 2008, then it will be 62 years after
graduating. A wartime class of proud students who are still enjoying life and
each other. Go Taft, Go!
