Hello All! Although I haven't seen much of the night life- no later than 6:30, haha- what i have seen is bedazzling! At sunset, on every street a photographer is setting up a tripod and adjusting the settings on his or her huge camera in hopes of capturing the magic time when the sun dims and the flashing lights erupt. It is quite amazing to walk down such lit up streets with the most amount of people since early morning rush hour. My Japanese class gets out at 4:45, and walking the 20 minutes back to the station with classmates is quite entertaining. With only two days of class behind me, my evening hour explorations of the nightlife haven't come close. Don't worry, mom, I'll be safe and responsible... Saturday, for example, the girls and I :) are talking about going to Karaoke in Shibuya! (I'll think of Molly Allison of course, because she introduced me to Ueno's finest was it, 2 years ago?? time flies and everything looks the same here since then) Dinner and a few hours of singing should be enough fun to last the weekend, but then sunday there is talk of hanging out in Harajuku where Japan's pop culture comes out in all sizes, colors and decades one day a week. Well, at least on sundays it all concentrates in one big city park and i'll have to see what else goes on.
Today I went a new way home from school, and got off the train one stop earlier than usual. I walked through a huge station onto a little street that runs parallel to the train tracks and then through a huge shopping mall (see pics). Outside the castle of lights and merchandise, sat a wee little pup that looked so much like my own, I had to stop and say konnichi wa. Dogs speak Japanese here too ya know, or do they? This new route took twice as long so I may stick to my well-paved, normal, and faster route from  here on out.
I would really love to write about everything I've seen and done, but  want to have some new stories at Christmas, and need to regain some energy to last another weekday- thank goodness it's nearly friday :)
3 weeks down, 10 to go!
love, Meaghan
