I only worked an hour and a half this morning! very nice. I cleaned my room, washed my laundry, took many pictures and went on a bike ride to Nasushiobara (nearest town) with Kaley, Phillip, and Leander. The ride was very nice because it was sunny and beautiful scenery. We rode to the post office, 7-11, 2nd hand shop- i would have packed lighter if I know i could buy clothes for so cheap here!-then to a bakery and supermarket. Everything was very fascinating and I almost rode my bike in to things like cars and buildings as I watched the new environment around me. I forgot my camera so I have no evidence of this adventure, however we'll ride to Utsunomiya tomorrow and i'll take pictures then. I'm crossing my fingers for this gorgeous weather to persist throughout the week! It the supermarket, I bought natto (fermented soybean) and loved it. On my last trip to Japan I smelled it and was disgusted. I am very proud now for consuming a whole serving. It was originally my goal for the trip, but here it is the fourth day and I've already conquered. So I need a new one, any ideas?
Tonight, Saturday night, we're going to go wild and bake chocolate chip cookies and then..... eat them! also we'll try to make tortillas because they were so confused when we asked where they were at the supermarket. quesadillas and cookies will be our mexican party. and i believe the older volunteers are making margaritas. of course i am 4 months too young for drinking so..
much fun ahead for me. they just rang the dinner bell so I must go before I miss the good stuff! itadakimasunee
