It was a weird feeling leaving Anaheim but exciting as well. Cap (Jason) our tour manager played us our day song. This is a song that would be played every morning of our trip. Every time I hear it now it brings back memories of my amazing trip and the great people I met. It was "All these things I have done" by the Killers. Next he explained a few things about the trip. One thing he did say was that things will be different than what we are used to and to look at it in a good way. He said we should say "its not wrong, its different". This is a phrase a few of us used quite a lot!!
One girl missed the bus so she had to make her own way to downtown San Diego to meet us
Our first optional activity was the San Diego cruise which everyone did.
Teresse and I stuck together. It was a bit cold on the cruise and not a lot to see but was still good. We soon went downstairs as it was warmer. We got some food and sat down. The cruise went for about an hour and then we had to get back on the bus.
It was time to head to Mexico!! We had to swap buses before we headed over the border. A local came on the bus and played music as we crossed into Tijuana, Mexico. We were warned about buying souvenirs by Cap. He said prices are really high and that we should haggle. We headed straight to lunch. It was a great atmosphere and we were on the second level so we had a nice view. Meals were decently priced and we got a free margarita with our meal. Man I can not drink tequila now. Those drinks were strong.
Most people were doing tequila shots but I decided not too as I'm not a big fan of tequila and definitely not now.
After lunch and feeling a bit tipsy we decided to check out Tijuana
It was a bit scary going to the toilets as there was a security guard standing out the front and you had to pay to use them. That was a bit weird. Well I guess it’s not wrong its different, right!!
It was now time to head back. I brought a mini sombrero, some shot glasses, a funky ring (real silver) and some postcards.
The traffic was bad going back across the border so we got of the bus and walked across as it would be quicker, and it was.
After finally crossing back to San Diego we headed to the hotel. We had about 45 minutes to get ready. I wasn’t sharing a room with Teresse. I was in a room with Beck. I had been chatting to her on MSN before I left Aus
We went to dinner at a place called Dicks last resort. It was a funny place. The waiters were rude and would get your drink orders wrong but it was all part of the setting. Plus everyone could throw serviettes at each other. It was a fun place. This was the first time we saw just how huge the meals are in America. Even the drinks are huge.
After dinner most people went to a heavy metal club but Teresse, Heather, Michelle and I went for a walk and then got a taxi back to the Hotel.
I decided to go to bed. It was about 11.00pm. I woke up when the rest of the group got back at about 3am as they were extremely loud.
It was actually quite a nice hotel with comfy beds.
