Last stop in Thailand

We managed to fit in one last stop in Thailand, on the island of Ko Lanta Yai. Lanta is a quiet place with some lovely beaches, they only got mains electricity and phone lines on the island in the last ten years. A minibus took us from Krabi down the coast and to get on to Lanta we had to take two ferry crossings.
The minibus company always want to flog their customers somewhere to stay but we lied and just told them we'd already booked somewhere for a quiet life. When we arrived at the place we asked to be dropped off at, they didn't seem to want to let us get off the bus, but we insisted. The resort was Blue Andaman and it turned out to be a good choice as it had a swimming pool and a decent room at a cheap price.
We spent the afternoon lounging around by the pool enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. In the evening we tried to walk towards Long Beach but discovered it was too dark and too far to walk. Instead we got a taxi and the driver insisted on taking us the opposite way to where we planned to go, to a restaurant in the middle of nowhere! The next day we did manage to walk to Long Beach, which was much further away than we'd expected, even worse in the heat of the day. After a couple of hours on the white sands we taxi'd it back to the resort for some splashing around in the pool. We were also able to book our complicated onward journey to Pulau Langkawi in Malaysia.
