Been wanting to sleep in but that darn sun has been the early riser, not today, it’s overcast and cold. I pack the gear and get ready to head for the Ho Rain Forest, which is about 40 minutes to the east. I pass through Forks on the way and can’t help but notice the 3 stores dedicated to Twilight merchandise, even the main grocery store in town has its own section.
Arrived as the sun starts to break through but its too inconsistent and its not enough to penetrate the layers of the rain forest. To assist, I break out
the flash or else the pictures will look flat and the green will look faded. The place is loaded with western Hemlock, Douglas-fir and these big guys, the Sitka Spruce trees.
I love the moss as it hangs off the big leaf Maples, sort of
has a Lord of the Rings quality. Ferns are everywhere thanks to being drenched in over 12 feet of rain a year.
Weather starts to be disruptive so I have to call it a day
and head back to the tent. On the way I stop to grab a steak, mushrooms and onions-hey I might as well do something productive with the down time.
