My first two days have been very nice. Every meal is some delicious concoction. And there is always cheese, wine, bread, and salad. Except with breakfast of course. Breakfast is usually something chocolate (though Marie, Sophie's mother, was nice enough to buy me peanut butter). For lunch today I got to try stuffed duck neck (tastes like chicken), and some mackerel pâté. Last night I had a delicious courgette dish with quinoa (which, according to some research I just did on Wikipedia, is originally from south America. The name is the Spanish spelling of the original Quechua word. To the Incas the crop was sacred and it's name meant "mother of all grains". Because of it's apparently unusual amount of good-for-you-ness quinoa is being considered as a possible crop for NASA's Controlled Ecological Life Support System for long-duration manned spaceflights. It is a good alternative to rice or couscous). There is always an appetizer, main course, cheese and bread, and dessert. Amazing.
The fridge in the house is not even half as big as the one I had in Canada, yet an entire drawer is devoted to cheeses. There are probably, just guessing, 6 different kinds of cheese in this house right now. That mackerel pâté I mentioned earlier? yeah, there's four jars of that!
I will have too write more about food. Plus I have to touch on a conversation I had with Sophie's father about the difference in attitudes towards wine in rural Canada and rural France. Anyways, I'm off too bed. More too come.

Moving to France
Fantastic pictures, Matthew. It is neat to see where Sophie comes from. I am sure her parents are excited to have her home. Tell her Hi from the Rodger's.
